Not a Big Box CE Provider. Never Will Be.

Each class is a unique experience!

Pretty soon after moving onto this teaching continuing education path, I found that, just as in retail, there are big box companies that offer it all.

They have 100+ courses, all available at the click of the mouse.

They offer instantly downloadable certificates.

Risk free 90 day guarantees.

They even offer handy 36- or 24- hour packages of an assortment of classes, for folks to get their entire biannual load of CE requirements done in one place.

Those, by the way, work out to less than $10 per CE hour. Less than $10 an hour!

It’s ridiculously affordable! Deviously brilliant.

Like the Walmart of CE providers. What more could you want?

I am not the Walmart of CE providers. Never will be.

I’m one person who has spent 16 years and counting in a career I love as a massage therapist.

I’ve earned the knowledge I’ve gained over the years through attentive listening, intentional bodywork with thousands of client hours, asking dumb questions and adjusting as I go.

I’ve honed skills in facilitating discussions, and teaching in ways that engage people with diverse styles of learning, and behind-the-scenes things like time management and how to create a classroom space that feels safe enough to take risks and learn something new.

I have a heart for bringing people together. There’s nothing more satisfying to me than the incremental process of growing a network of peers, friends, colleagues, and referral partners that I know, like, and trust.

And getting to lean into that network as I bob along in my days, connecting others and enjoying the luxury of being generous with referrals.

(You need a life coach to get you out of your rut? I’ve got people. Looking for a doula for your sister’s upcoming birth? Look no further.)

I advocate for my students to do the same. We all need peer support, mentorship, and sounding boards sometimes.

I love that the chance meeting of people in a class together can lead to powerful learning opportunities, authentic bonds, new synergies that didn’t exist before. That can happen when someone is present to the vibe of the room, guiding the experience, and creating opportunities for connections to happen.

Big box CE providers can provide seamless online experiences, year-round sale prices, and an unparalleled level of standardization in their offerings.

But what I offer in continuing education can’t be underestimated, or even quantified:

It’s personal.

Responsive to your needs in the moment.

Human and flawed and authentic.

My work is founded upon my core values of connection, courage, and making a difference in the world.

Come to think of it, the difference between my classes and the Walmarts of the CE world parallels the difference between massage therapy and the good vibrations you can get from one of those high-tech massaging chairs.

Apples and oranges.
